The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (DKG) is a global honorary society of over 150,000 key women educators in 17 countries. The Society is a beacon of inspiration, dedicated to promoting the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Membership in the Society is based upon success in teaching, leadership in professional organizations, and upon an unselfish spirit. Under the international umbrella of DKG are state organizations, and within them, local chapters.
The Texas State Organizationis a part of DKG, which is dedicated to promoting the professional and personal growth of women educators and, most importantly, excellence in education. Founded in 1929 in Austin, Texas, it was the first state organization within DKG. The Texas organization, formerly known as Alpha State, has a large membership with over 9,000 members across approximately 270 chapters, all working towards the common goal of inspiring excellence in education. Epsilon Upsilon, a chapter in the Texas State Organization of DKG, serves the western Hidalgo & Starr counties in the Rio Grande Valley. It is composed of diverse educators who have been welcomed to membership by their peers. Through this organization, women educators, instructors, trainers, and coaches are offered a lifelong association with others in the profession who share a pursuit of common interests, goals, and ideas as they strive for professional growth and to become leaders in advancing education.
